The Sculpture Garden of China’s Anti-Japanese War was built since 1995 and was finished in 2000, in honor of the 55th anniversary of China’s Anti-Japanese War. The garden has served as a patriotism educational base in Beijing.
The garden is located against the famous Wanping City northward in Fengtai District, covering an area of 20 hectares. It is mainly composed by 5 scenic spots including: the Monument of China’s Anti-Japanese War, the Sculpture Group, the Central Plaza, Wanping City Wall and the Greenwood. In the monument, there is the inscription by the former president Jiang Zemin. The sculpture group covers an area of 22,500 square kilometers, standing 38 cylindrical bronze sculptures with an average weight of 6 tons. The theme for the sculpture group is the ‘National Anthem’ and is displayed through four divisions: the Infringe, Rise for Salvation, the Flame, Justice Victory, which expresses well the unappalled national spirit and dauntless heroism of Chinese people. In the 640 m long Wanping city wall of 360 years ago, the shot mark of guns and cannon are still clear. Besides, there is a passageway that leads to the wall top where you can have a bird’s view of the garden and the reputed Marco Polo Bridge. The Greenwood plants several tens species of shrubs, such as cedar, pinus bungeana, and Albizzia julibrissin, and luxurious lawns.
