A red scarf (Honglingjin) is the symbol of the Young Pioneers of China. The Red scarf Park is a park as a modern education base of children. The park is located in the northeastern corner of Honglingjin Bridge, East 4th Ring Road, covering an area of 390,000 sq.m., including an water surface of 160,000 sq.m..
The Children’s Play Zone and the excursion boating are the main funs for children. Besides, there are other important scenic spots. In the theme square stands the Sculpture Group of Youthful Heroes, including Leng Feng, Lai Ning, Xiaoluobotou and also Zoya from the former Soviet Union. Gingko Square is where most tourists concentrate. It plants 27 huge Gingko trees and also cultivates a ladder type flower area which appears very beautiful if seen from the opposite lakeshore. The Traffic Safety Education and Practice Base for the minors is another attraction in the park. The juveniles drive the simulated car in the realistic simulation district, which create a real interaction environment so that they can know the traffic laws and regulations from the fun.
Two characteristic activities are held every year in the park. One is the Beijing Youngsters Popularization of Science which opens during the International Children’s Day. It offers an activity platform for the children to learn science from play and fun and attracts thousands of youths each year. The other is Beijing International Twins Culture Day. It is held during the Chinese National Holiday when hundreds of twins from home and abroad gather in the park and have a happy party. The festival has been operated for 6 times and got a wide attention in the society.
