A: There are many hotels above three- star standard in China. Generally, the three-star hotels can offer below services and facilities: air-conditioner, TV, telephone, refrigerator; a private and clean bathroom with 24-hour hot water; disinfected towels, tooth brushes & paste and other necessary toiletries; one or two beds, a wardrobe and a dressing table; an electrical water boiler, 24 hours room service; bank service of exchanging money; post delivery service; Chinese and western restaurants, coffee shops, bars, banqueting halls, conference rooms, multi-function halls, ballrooms, beauty parlors, massage rooms; shops selling souvenirs.
Q: Do I need a converter when I use my electronics in the hotel rooms?
A: Throughout China (including Hong Kong), the electricity voltage is 220 volts. If your appliances are designed to operate at 110 volts, you will need a converter and a converter plug. If you forget to bring one, you many ask the hotel housekeeping department to lend you one.
Q: Is internet access available at the hotels?
A: Yes, most hotels above 3-star level are equipped with cable/telephone access to the internet, very convenient for your contact with home or friends.
Q: Is the tap water drinkable in the hotel rooms?
A: Tap water is not drinkable in most of the hotels. There is a thermo of boiled water or an electrical water boiler offered by the hotel free of charge. Sometimes, a bottle or two mineral water is provided free in your room by some hotels.
