Q: How about the taxi in China?
A: Taxi is very convenient in China’s most cities. It is easy to recognize a taxi by a clear sign ‘TAXI’ on the top of the car. Taxi fares vary in different cities and a taximeter is installed in the car. It’s better for you to have your destination written down in Chinese with the help of the guide or the hotel receptionist. Show the destination name to the driver and don’t forget to ask for a receipt when you get off the taxi. Besides, remember the number of taxi in case you leave something in the taxi.
Q: What should I do to make our tour safe in China?
A: Here are our suggestions:
). Get detailed information about the places you are to visit.
). Make several copies of your passport, traveler's checks, credit cards, airline tickets, itinerary, and our confirmation letter. Take one copy with you and leave one copy to a relative or friend home.
). Be sure your passport, driver's license and other ID has enough validity.
). You should store important documents or certificates in the safety box in the hotel either in the room or at the reception. If you need to carry your passport, driver's license and other ID with you, make sure you put them in a safe place that the others can not reach them.
). Do not open the hotel room door before you verify who it is.
). Lock the door and close the window in your hotel room when you go out.
). Better drink the boiled water or bottled water because the water from the tap in most hotels is not drinkable.
). Traveler's checks are the best way to bring money for travel but don't sign your name on the traveler's checks before you use them. Don't show large amounts of cash in public. Be sure to carry your credit card company's telephone number in case your card is lost or stolen.
). Exchange money at the Bank of China or in the hotel counter; do not exchange money in the black market, because it is illegal and sometimes you might be ripped off.
). Please prepare some small changes, which you can use to buy things from the street vendors at scenic spots.
). Dress simple. Don’t wear expensive jewelry and watches.
). When you need a taxi, it's better to have your hotel arrange taxi service for you. Take a hotel card with you and ask the receptionist to write down the names of places you want to visit in English and Chinese. Remember the taxi number in case you forget anything in it.
). Prepare a notebook with some useful words and phrases both in English and Chinese, which makes communication easier.
). Respect the customs of local people. Ask your tour guides about the proper etiquettes and taboos to avoid offending people.
). Be not outside too late at night.
). While you are on the train, be sure all valuable things with you all the time, even when you go to toilet.
