    Today Arrangement: Pick up from your hotel/apartment by our private English-speaking guide and driver at 10:30PM and transfer to Beijing railway station. Take an overnight soft sleeper train to Datong.

    Day 2 Datong-Beijing

    Attraction(s): Hanging Temple, Yungang Grottoes, Nine-Dragon Screen
    Today Arrangement: Our tour guide and driver in Datong pick you up in a comfortable car and then have a Chinese breakfast. Drive to Hanging Temple and start the morning tour. The temple hangs on the west cliff of a hill, more than 50 meters above the ground, hence got its name. It is an ancient temple first built in 491AD and was mainly rebuilt and maintained in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). The most attractive feature lies that it is an integration of Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism. After lunch, move on to Yungang Grottoes. The grottoes are a must see for Datong tourists and hold over 50,000 Buddhist statues, extending to about 1 km. Then have a close look at the Nine Dragon Screen in Datong, which is one of the three noted Nine Dragons Screens in China. Built in 1771, the screen has 9 dragons playing with pearls with a background of clouds and seawater, made of 270 pieces of glazed titles, very magnificent.
    After dinner, be transferred safely to the Dadong railway station and leave for Beijing by an overnight train.
