    Day 1 Beijing-Pingyao

    Today Arrangement: Pick you up from your hotel/apartment at 7:00AM by our private English-speaking guide and driver, transfer to Beijing west railway station and take a train to Taiyuan.
    Upon your arrival, be met by our guide in Taiyuan railway station and drive to Pingyao. Have a lunch and then visit Pingyao Ancient City for three of its characterized sites. First is the Ancient City Wall. Seventy-two watch towers were built every 50-100 m along the top of the wall and 3000 crenellations were constructed with openings for shooting. Then come to Ri Sheng Chang Private Bank, which is the first draft bank of China, the forerunner of modern banking and once manipulated the economic lifelines of the whole Qing Dynasty in the 19th century. Finally is the Ming Qing Street, also called South Street, the main commercial street in Pingyao. The street extends for about 750 m, with 78 traditional shops that remain well-preserved in the Ming and Qing style. After dinner, drive to the hotel and check in.

    Today Arrangement: After breakfast, visit Jinci Temple, a fine example of royal Chinese architecture, built by Prince Shuyu who was reputed to have magical powers. The temple is also well-known for the 1,000 years old Cyprus trees wrap around. Have a lunch and call at the Qiao Family's Compound. It was a courtyard house of Qiao Guifa, a local tea and bean curd merchant of Qing dynasty, consisting of six courtyards containing over 300 rooms, packed with antiques from the Qing period. Then move on to the Great Wang’s Quadrangle, is a great representative for the finest residential architecture of Qing Dynasty and the largest residential building collections throughout China with 1,118 rooms throughout the 123 individual courtyards, covering an area of 250 thousand square meters. The huge architecture was made to signify the greatness of Wang's family. Have dinner, transfer to hotel.
