Day 1 Beijing-Lhasa
Qinghai-Tibetan Train

Attraction(s): Yarlong Tsangpo River
Today Arrangement: Go to the Beijing airport on your own and fly to Tibet. Local guide will meet you and transfer you to Lhasa. On the way, you can enjoy the heart-beating highland view along the Yarlong Tsangpo River (the longest river in Tibet).
Day 2 Lhasa

Attraction(s): Potala Palace; Jokhang Temple
Today Arrangement: Today, you will visit the highest palace in the world—Potala Palace which is the Dalai Lama’s winter palace. It locates on the red hill, a good viewing point in Lhasa. In the afternoon, we go to the renowned Jokhang Temple which will provide you one of your first sights of devout Tibetans. In the temple you will see the glistening Sakyamuni statue which is considered as Tibetan Buddhism’s rarity. After then, stroll around the bustling Barkhor Street.
Day 3 Lhasa-Yamdrok Yumtso-Gyantse-Shigatse

Attraction(s): Yamdrok Lake; Karola Galcier; Pelkhor Monastery; Kumbum Pagoda
Today Arrangement: About hundred kilometers' drive, we are lucky to appreciate the holy Lake of Yamdrok Yumtso Lake.The sacred lake of Yamdrok Yutso is revered as a talisman, supporting the life-spirit of Tibet. It is said that should its waters dry, Tibet will no longer be habitable. On the way to Gyantse, have a look at the Karola Glacier. Visit the Pelkhor monastery for its famous Kumbum Pagoda. Drive to Shigatse to overnight.
Day 4 Shigatse-Shegar-Rongbuk Monastery

Attraction(s): Rongbuk Monastery, Mt. Everest Base Camp
Today Arrangement: Drive to Shegar. After hours of driving we arrive at the highest monastery of the world, the Rongbuk Monastery. Upon arrival, take carriage or hike to Mt. Everest Base Camp. You can appreciate the spectacular Himalayan and the highest mountain in the world-Mt. Everest.
Day 5 Mt. Everest Base Camp-Shigatse

Today Arrangement: Back to Shigatse.
Day 6 Shigatse-Lhasa
Meal(s): Breakfast
Attraction(s): Tashilumpo Monastery
Today Arrangement: Morning visit to Tashilumpo Monastery, and back to Lhasa in the afternoon.
Day 7 Lhasa-Golmud
Meal(s): Breakfast
Attraction(s): Qiangtang Grassland; Mt. Tangla pass; Kekexili
Today Arrangement: Take the Qinghai-Tibetan Train from Lhasa to Xining, which cost 25 hours for the whole journey. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served on the train, and it will be very simple, hoping you have prepared well for this. On the way, we will see the 4th largest grassland in China-Qiangtang Grassland, and also go through the world’s highest railway pass-Mt. Tangla pass (5,072m), and the world’s highest railway station-Tangla railway station (5,068m). Qinghai-Tibetan railway is the high plateau railway which goes through the longest frozen ground on the earth, and we will pass the years old frozen ground for 550 kilometers. It also passes the world’s highest tunnel-Mt. Fengshuo Tunnel, which is 4,905m above the sea level, the highest plateau permanent frozen ground channel on the earth until now.
En route, you can also visit the Kekexili uninhabited region. There are many wild animals in this vast uninhabited area, such as the precious antelopes, the wild yaks, wild donkeys, and mountain goats. We will stay overnight at the soft sleeper train.
Day 8 Golmud-Xining
Rongbuk Monastery
Early in the morning, our train will pass the famous Qinghai lake, although we will not stop there, it’s an enjoyment by watching the quiet lake in the early morning out of the window. Later we will arrive at Xining, the capital city of Qinghai province at noon.
Day 9 Xining-Beijing
Today Arrangement: Arrive in Beijing at 07:34am. Transfer back to your hotel/apartment on your own. Thank you for using Beijing Tours Guide and wish to serve you again in the future.
